WWE legend The Undertaker has rarely made an appearance inside wrestling ring after losing to Shawn Michaels and Triple H in a tag team match at WWE Crown Jewel. Taker teamed up with on-screen brother Kane, but the Brothers of Destruction came up short against D-Generation X that night and both have not been seen on WWE TV ever since.
The Dead Man, as he is called in WWE, has achieved cult status as the “Lord of Darkness” throughout his three-decade-long career. According to the reports in The Sun, Taker in a recent interview to pastor Ed Young gave fans a rare glimpse into his emotional side as he discussed his relationship with wife Michelle McCool. The 53-year-old after divorcing his first two wives married fellow WWE superstar McCool in 2010.
Taker, real name Mark Calaway, during the interview broke down while speaking about his wife. The seven-time world champion said: “I’ve always known and believed in God. I just didn’t lead my life that way. “I’ve never put a lot into being a celebrity, that just flies over my head because that’s not really who I am.
“But as you can imagine, you get exposed to a lot of different things because of what you do and I lived a pretty excessive lifestyle. I believe in God, but I wasn’t living my life for God. And, somehow or another, I met… I’m getting a little chocked up, she’s awesome.” he added
Just as it appeared emotion was about to get the better of him a fan from the crowd declared their love for him.
And that allowed Taker to regain his composure as he thanked the audience member for helping him save his infamous and cold-blooded persona. He said: “I love you too. Thank you, I needed that. I needed that save there. I was about to lose my whole character.”
The Phenom is now set to appear at the Starrcast II wrestling convention on May 25 – one day before rival promotion AEW’s show Double Or Nothing in the same city of Las Vegas. The announcement followed on from Taker officially deleting references to WWE for his social media accounts. The legendary wrestler isn’t expected to be back for a match at WrestleMania 35, but he still has something left in the tank and should be back for a few more matches before he hanging up his boots for good.
